Athletics

One sunny April day, I was exercising while reading the newspaper.  I saw an ad.  It read, "Endurance Test!  This Saturday!"  I was very athletic, so I decided to participate.

It was a Thursday.  I gave up baseball so I could practice in the gym.  Some people were doing gymnastics.  The next day, it was Friday.  This was my last day to practice.  I kept practicing, and I kept improving.

It was the next day.  Saturday, the day of the test.  Not many people were there.  I said, "Not many people are here.  Only about 8, including me."  The people that were there were named Alexandra, Jace, Summer, Jackson, Heather, Whitney, Travis, and me.

First was the jump roping event.  They were timing us.  I jumped continuously.  I tried and tried.  I was also strengthening.  Pretty soon, I won that event, along with three others.  Alexandra, Jace, Whitney, and me!

The next event was the races.  I had practiced running a lot.  I thought, "I might win this event."  I concentrated, and concentrated, and soon, I won!

It was against Whitney and me.  It was a long track.  It was 6 miles long... for one lap!  The track was three laps long!  That's 18 miles!  It was a beautiful spring, so I would be happy.

My bike was very flexible.

The man that stood at the side of the starting line said, "Mark, set, go!"  We started.  I peddled with all my strength.

After going 9 miles, my bike got very wobbly.  After going above a speed bump, my rear tire fell off.  I looked inside my pocket.  I found a wrench.  I wondered why I was keeping a wrench in my pocket.  Well, anyway, I put my tire back on the bike.

I peddled with all my might.  Pretty soon, I was up with Whitney.  The finish line came up in sight.  I had crossed it, and started my final lap.  Whitney had stopped.  She had thought she had won.  She was however on her second lap.  I gained the lead.

After a long time, Whitney caught up to me.  The finish line came up to view.  I pointed to the right and said, "Look!  Balloons!"  Whitney looked to the right.  She stopped while I kept peddling.  Pretty soon, I WON!  I got a golden trophy!  The end!
