Note: "The Lady, or the Tiger?" is an interesting story. And it's short, too! Before you read my story, I strongly suggest that you read it here if you want this story to make sense. What I've written below is how I finished the story for a seventh grade assignment. Enjoy. He turned and with a firm and rapid step, he walked across the empty space. Every heart stopped beating, every breath was held, and every eye was fixed immovably upon that man. Without the slightest hesitation, he walked to the door on the right. "Nooooooo!" cried the princess. She jumped from the balcony before her father could stop her, and landed flat on her feet in the middle of the arena. A large dust cloud surrounded her as the dirt floor stirred up. She immediately began speaking. "Wait, I chose the wrong door! Do not open--" Her words were cut off by the applause of the audience. It was, after all, a very dramatic jump with a 10-point landing. Unfortunately, her words were not spoken quickly enough. The youth opened the door, and the big, ferocious tiger hopped out and pounced on the princess. She was the first thing it saw. The princess fell backward from the weight of the tiger. The brave youth kicked the floor, bringing dirt off the ground and into the tiger's fur. The tiger hated being dirty worse than being hungry. The tiger got up off the princess, and began licking the fur on his back in an attempt to be clean again. The princess was stunned. She lay still on her back, unable to move a muscle; she was still frightened. Then, the tiger was through cleaning. The youth had no time to spare. He bent down and grabbed the ankle of his girlfriend, and ran, dragging her behind on her back. Her hair was absorbing all the dirt on the ground. She had spent all morning making it look nice. She was so enraged that she let him be the tiger's lunch. The blood splattered all over her dress. It was ruined. Seven years later, the king decided to shut down the arena if it would ruin young princesses' dresses. The town was soooooo boring after that. It was so boring that everyone but the king and princess left . After about a year, the king died of old age. "Whoo-hoo!" the princess cheered. "My own town!" |
